The Bereavement Ministry is provided to ensure that every family's needs are met during their time of loss by providing the necessary supports. Bereavement is defined as a state of sorrow over the death or departure of a loved one. Grief is a multifaceted response to loss. Although one may be conventionally focused on the emotional response to loss, it also has physical, cognitive, behavioral, social, and philosophical dimensions. The bereavement Ministry of St. John ensures that all facets of grief are met.
Signs of Mental and Physical Reactions to Bereavement
Mental reactions can include anger, guilt, anxiety, sadness, and despair. Physical reactions can include sleeping problems, changes in appetite, physical problems or illness. The length of time bereavement lasts can depend upon how close one was to the person who died, if the person’s death was expected, and other factors. Friends, family, and faith are sources of support. Grief counseling or grief therapy is also helpful. The loss of a loved one is life’s most stressful event and can cause a major emotional crisis. After the death of someone you love, you experience bereavement, which literally means “to be deprived by death.”
During your time of grief –
He says you can case your cares on Him for he cares for you. So when you are expiring grief and don’t know which way to turn; put your trust in Him. The Bereavement Ministry of ST. John Missionary Baptist Church will be there to help make your burdens just a little bit lighter during your time of grief.
